Psalm 90:9-“For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
12-So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.17-And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.”
Psalms 90:12, 17 KJV
Here we have the beginning of the fourth book of the Psalms called the Psalm of Moses (A Prayer of Moses, the man of God).
Skipping down to verse 9, (Our lives are as a story that has already been told) the sadness and shame of Israel’s plight and sin can be felt right here in black and white.
In the East, story tellers loved to share stories with the people. It was how they kept their heritage alive throughout the coming generations.
Imagine hearing the story of how God had brought them out of bondage from Egypt. Their lives were chock-full of God’s Promises! The excitement would be evident on the faces of the crowd.
As the narrator left them breathless, sitting on the edge of their seat, the scene would unfold. But instead of entering into those promises, they had chosen to go in the wrong direction instead.
I can imagine how many times they had each hitten the “replay” button in their own minds. Their failure a shadow, always before them in the wilderness, instead of the land of flowing milk and honey.

Let’s Pray. Dear Jesus, we are living in desperate times. Help us to hide your Word in our heart that we might not sin against you. That we may stand in the evil days. Teach us to count our days well. Give us a heart that follows after you and thinks as you think. Let your beauty flow over us and bless the work of our hands. Help us to choose faith over disbelief. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen!
